Set in vast, snowy Anatolia, Winter Sleep is a gorgeous, emotional, and epic study of relationships. Allegedly inspired by Chekhov's fiction, it largely takes place at a small hotel in Anatolia, although the looming city of Istanbul is always at the psychic heart of the film. Filmmaker Nuri Bilge Ceylan's 2011 Once Upon a Time in Anatolia was awarded the Grand Jury Prize at Cannes, and his 2008 Three Monkeys won him the Best Director award. Winter Sleep is his seventh film.

IThe World of My Father, Ceylan turns his formidable gaze to Mehmet Emin Ceylan, a charismatic figure who played prominent roles in Ceylan's first three films, Clouds of May (1999), The Small Town (1997), Cocoon(1995). Viewers familiar with Ceylan's films will be delighted to see Ceylan's same commitment to subtle imagery in his photographs.

14th NYTFF: Call for Short Film Submissions (Deadline: December 31)

The American Turkish Society is pleased to announce an open call for short film submissions for its 14th New York Turkish Film Festival. In building bridges between cultures, cinema is a particularly powerful tool that transports audiences to distant places, while reflecting universality of various human experiences and emotions. For the past fourteen years, The New York Turkish Film Festival has screened over 300 Turkish films to a steadily increasing audience.  Nonetheless, this accomplishment can only be maintained by your valuable support and film submissions.

Selected submissions will be screened at the 14th NYTFF, and considered for our audience-choice award, which was implemented for the first time in 2014.

To submit a film, please click the corresponding language for application information in English or Turkish.
